VolunTEEN program gives students chance to work in hospital setting (The McDowell News)
Ciera Whiteside and Amber Grant exchanged smiles and greetings with staff members as they rode the elevator to the second floor of The McDowell Hospital carrying a dozen red roses. They entered a room quietly and placed the flowers at the bedside of a patient recovering from surgery.

Sharon Harms, a graphic and fused-glass artist, also knows how to design a beautiful flower pot, something few gardeners do well. She has 24 of them in the small front garden of the South Hills home she shares with husband Bill Hogan, daughter Genevieve, and Labrador retriever Blossom.
